He was a landscaper in and around San Luis Obispo County where there are many examples of his love for plants and the earth. He loved the Pacific Ocean and spent many hours parasailing. He moved back to Sierra County in 2005 when he established a homestead in Pike City. He never missed a chance to help others with projects and gave many people a place to stay without reservation. Shaun loved adventure and was detail oriented; he was a skydiving instructor for 12 years with a perfect safety record. He was a volunteer firefighter in San Luis Obispo County and even went to the Fire Academy where he was 2nd in his class. He loved going to Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert, where he made many lifetime friends and as an ordained minister even married people there.
