Happy New Year, everyone! I’m getting over the stomach flu, so we are gonna keep this one short and sweet, and I’m not gonna lie: I watched a lot of the last two Kings games with my eyes closed. But we had three very different games this week, so let’s get into it.

First off, the Kings had a comeback victory against the Atlanta Hawks that was super exciting. It was the kind of game that is the reason you watch the NBA. The Kings were down by 18 at halftime, but they clawed their way back to take the lead with 5:48 left in the fourth quarter, and we had an exciting back and ending before the Kings took the victory, 117-110.

Next, the Kings completely dominated the Memphis Grizzlies on their home court on New Year’s Eve, and I guess I didn’t have a big reason to open my eyes because they won 123-92. But I had to pry my eyes open for the end of the Charlotte Hornets game on Tuesday, January 2nd, because, although the Kings were winning, the Hornets weren’t taking it easy on them whatsoever. The Kings were winning by about two points during the last four minutes of the game, but someone must have fallen asleep during the last minute of the game, and I’m pissed because two back-to-back turnovers gave the Hornets a five-point lead that they never gave back. It felt like the Kings just took their foot off the gas, and it goes to show that you can’t take any team for granted. The Charlotte Hornets snapped an 11-game losing streak, and the Kings lost 104-111. The Kings have a tendency to play down to some of the worst teams in the league, and it often bites them in the butt; they should have won that game.

The Kings play the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, January 3rd, and I’m curious to see how they will play on this back-to-back after the embarrassing ending to the game the night before. Then the Kings play the Toronto Raptors on Friday, January 5th; let’s hope they don’t sleep on this mediocre team when I’m at the game! They have a tough matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, who have been a thorn in their side this season, on Sunday, January 7th, and then play the worst team in the league, the Detroit Pistons, on Tuesday, January 9th. Go Kings!
