SIERRA COUNTY — Sierra County Sheriff Mark Fisher swore in Deputy Shawn Sexton at the Sierra Valley Substation of the Sheriff’s Office on Monday, March 24th. Deputy Sexton was previously a Division Commander for the Law Enforcement Services Division of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. He served 27 years with Alameda County, having started as a Sheriff’s Recruit in 1994, before beginning a short retirement in 2021.

“I was blessed with an amazing and rewarding 27-year career with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, where I truly enjoyed serving the citizens of Alameda County. After a few years of retirement, I felt the pull of the ‘calling’ calling me back into law enforcement, where I can once again serve the community. I am excited and honored to work with the fine men and women of the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office. I look forward to meeting the members of this welcoming community, as well as sharing my knowledge and experience with the Sheriff’s Office. I am proud to be a part of my new agency with its rich history and endeavor to serve it with honor, integrity, and professionalism,” says Sexton.
