SCAC Thanks Volunteers for Banff Film Festival Contributions

DOWNIEVILLE — The Sierra County Arts Council (SCAC) thanked the following volunteers for organizing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Downieville. Their efforts ensured the event’s success, upholding a long-standing community tradition at the beloved Yuba Theatre.

David Scott, Feather Ortiz, Suzi Schoensee, and Cracker Eshleman, members of the SCAC Board of Directors, led the festival’s operations.

BJ Jordan, SCAC Executive Director, managed website advertising and ticketing while recovering from hospitalization.

Mike Meline ran the tech booth for smooth film screenings.

Mike and Sonya of the Riverside Mountain Lodge hosted the Banff Road Warrior, accommodating the festival’s traveling representative.

Kathy Fischer and Kristy Folsom of Downieville Day Spa handled local ticket sales.

Sandy Nowakowski, Feather Ortiz, and Kathy Fischer distributed posters across the county and beyond to promote the event.

Kristie Pearmund collected raffle prizes, with Feather Ortiz securing additional donations from Sierra City businesses.

Lis Scott assisted in preparing the Yuba Theatre.

Local restaurants opened for the festival weekend, and businesses contributed raffle prizes, adding to the event’s success. For over 30 years, this community-driven effort has kept the Banff Mountain Film Festival thriving in Downieville.
