Press Release by Sierra County Arts Council The Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to announce that the Downieville Dance Floor has been installed. We raised more than $1,800 with the Gofundme campaign. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The North Yuba River Hall will be a community resource
and will host a variety of classes and events. We expect to have Kathy Fischer’s Downieville Dance Classes begin soon. We are also planning a bilingual family Music Together Class in partnership with Sierra First Five. Thank you to the former Native
Daughters of the Golden West, who donated the building and who also donated funding for our improvements. We think Bob’s Discount Carpet did a great job on the floor, and Gray Electric brightened up the main hall and library with upgraded electrical,
including new light fixtures. Thank you to Kim Hemstock, who repaired the beautiful slate walkway, and to Nigel Pearmund, for fixing the plumbing in the Downieville Library. We will be hosting the Ice Cream Social on August 12 from 12 noon to 2 pm, and
invite everyone to come enjoy the history and the ice cream in this lovely setting. Come taste the ice cream and vote for your favorite. Winners will receive a handmade ice cream bowl created by local wood crafter Steve Fillo. If you would like to make
ice cream and join the competition, please call B.J. at 530-961-2188 or email bj@sierracountyartscouncil.org. Sierra County Arts Council is State-Local Partner with the California Arts Council. Information at www.sierracountyartscouncil.org.
