Editor,
Calpine’s streets are all 25 mph zones, and I’m certain that we all see and are irritated by trucks, cars and motorcycles zooming down the streets at 30-40 miles an hour - at least I am.
I have respect for my neighbors safety, so you won’t see me driving through town at much over 20, even if I’m in a hurry, or late for an appointment.
For whatever reason he has, the Fire Chief has no business driving down Main Street at 50 miles an hour. Any speed necessary can be made on Highway 89. Even our Sheriff’s Deputies respect our posted speed limits.
Tim Butler walks his dogs through town (on leashes) every evening, sometimes after dark. Normally, like myself, he is just “verbally irritated” by these speeders, but this time proved too much, and he wrote the letter below to our Supervisor Paul Roen. I’m hoping that Mr. Roen speaks to Mr. Connelly, And that he also makes some other efforts to curtail all the speeding in town.
If you feel as I do, please forward this letter to the Calpine residents that you know...
Most Sincerely,
Russell Rosewood
Calpine
