Sierra City Finale; A Thousand Years at Sea

August 23, 2024

SIERRA CITY — On Sunday, September 1st, Sierra City’s final outdoor concert of the summer will be held at the Sierra Pines Resort meadow, featuring the Celtic/Americana duo “A Thousand Years at Sea.” The duo is composed of fiddler Ethan Saw of the Celtic cowboy band “Dust in My Coffee” and Colin Cotter, an internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. Lifelong friends Ethan and Colin will perform classic Americana covers and tunes that evoke their combined love of all things Celtic.

Ethan started playing the violin at the age of five. As a young teenager, he began attending an annual musical music camp put on by the legendary Scottish fiddler, Alasdair Fraser. He continued (and continues) to attend this annual event, and, at 19 years of age, he plunged headfirst into all things Celtic.

Like Ethan, Colin began playing music at a very early age, and he was immersed in Irish, Finnish, and American folk music. His love of traditional Scottish and Irish music ultimately solidified his musical identity and direction. Today, Colin is a highly regarded musician and collaborator who has performed from coast to coast in the U.S. and toured internationally in Canada, Ireland, and Spain. I would encourage you to check out Colin at Colincotter.com and listen for yourself.

I think you’ll find that what Colin and Ethan have to offer will make for a joyful and memorable afternoon come Sunday afternoon, September 1st. The gate opens at 2 PM, and the show begins at 3. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and “picnic fare.” For more information, call Chris Stockdale at (530) 277-6408. Hope to see you on the meadow!
