Monday, October 7

27 - Welfare check requested in Loyalton.

55 - Apparently, there is a dog barking all hours of the night on Commercial Street in Downieville. Until this is resolved, I suggest blasting the sound of rain. I do this to drown out my husband’s snoring. Works wonders!

57 - Ambulance requested in Goodyears Bar.

29 - Hospital inquiring about possible assault being reported. Party did not wish to report a crime or incident.

51 - “...at approximately 2:51 PM, a 911 call reported smoke near Babbit Peak, about 4 to 5 miles up Smithneck Road. Shortly after, flames were visible, and the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) was already en route with a full response. The Loyalton Fire Department was notified and staged at Sierra Brooks Lodge, while Sierra County Fire was placed on standby. An air attack, including tankers and helicopters, was deployed. Air tankers made fire retardant drops, while helicopters conducted multiple bucket drops on the fire. Loyalton Fire cleared the scene by 3:53 PM, and USFS personnel continued working on the fire...most likely caused by lightning.”
