11:57 - Forest Service station Loyalton may have been broken into.

12:32 - CHP dealing with over-length semi truck on Hwy 49. Geez. Now I appreciate truck drivers, I really do. We wouldn’t have crap in our cupboards if there weren’t truck drivers willing to work long shifts and be away from home for days upon end. Many drive tired and hungry because fewer and fewer places are available across America to stop and rest along their routes. But, we are heading into the season where thanks to detours promoted by GPS, a lack of common sense, overconfidence, or flat-out stubbornness due to delivery deadlines, some drivers think they can steer their big ass rigs through our mountain towns and on our narrow windy roads. Nevermind anyone else trying to drive on the mountains as there is no way in hell they ain’t crossin’ double yellow lines, not to mention the weight of their rigs on our bridges or the angst of locals praying to high heaven they don’t wipe out their house because a wrong turn took them all the way down Main Street. Precisely the case one year when some stood on their front porch in utter disbelief — sipping tea, coffee, and whiskey while watching some monstrosity try to turn around on their tiny street by the tennis courts. Maybe I will start tallying “Semi” at the bottom of the report, along with the bears, cows, dogs, etc.

12:39 - Citizen assist in Loyalton.

13:12 - Scam call reported in Loyalton.

13:57 - Agitated person at Sierraville Gas Station. Solely being agitated is not criminal, though no one wants to be recorded having a “Karen” moment. (Sorry, Karens out there — we could have picked another name for agitated women!) But I was fit to be tied last week, and I surely dropped a WTF in front of Mindy at the Downieville Post Office after she handed me a long-awaited package of what was supposed to be my non-nicotine vape order from Cyclone Pods and found nothing in the box except a packing slip and paper! The order eventually came, but seriously? Fortunately, their customer service department is top-notch!

18:12 - Deer carcass found without a head in Loyalton. Possible illegal deer trophy. I’m all for legalized hunting. But if you are going to commit the crime of poaching, don’t be a further a**hole about it; and take the whole deer and make the most of the kill. Wildlife deserve more honor for their sacrifice. I swear, sometimes I’m close to going Vegan. But then there is bacon... so I can’t.
