09:35 - Possible abandoned vehicle in Community Hall parking lot in Downieville.

10:18 - Bear attempting to enter a Sierra City trailer.

12:22 - Semi truck blocking Hwy 49 in Downieville.

16:53 - Welfare check requested in Chilcoot.

18:51 - Individual sleeping under the Durgan Bridge was given a ride and some food compliments of Downieville Fire.

22:58 - Deputy responded to verbal altercation between Loyalton neighbors.

Tuesday, July 2

07:25 - Person walking in the middle of Hwy 49 near Indian Valley Campground.

07:40 - Agency assistance requested from Camptonville for a fire outside of the county.

08:12 - Accidental 911 in Sierra City.

09:37 - Probation searches in Sierraville and Loyalton.

11:13 - Report of cold burglary in Sierra City.

11:30 - Threatening encounter in Loyalton reported.

12:41 - Lodger at Mendocino County Jail contacted Sheriff’s Office.

13:46 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

15:08 - Deputies and Probation assisted Butte County during the Thompson Fire.

15:23 - “Citizen came to the Sheriff’s Office wanting to turn [self] in for drunk in public.” In between sips of coffee questions arose and answers were given. Yes, this was the same person as last week. Yes, again referred to Behavioral Health. And my mind drifted to the character of Otis on The Andy Griffith Show who regularly showed up to jail to turn himself in to a designated cell for him to sleep off the booze.

17:49 - Requested welfare check on camper in Sierra City found to be alive and well.

18:24 - “Notification that a county employee will be bringing a citizen to treatment.”

18:36 - Report of trespassing in Loyalton.

21:30 - Medical issue reported in Loyalton.

21:33 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

22:27 - Vinton citizen cited for expired registration, an equipment violation and drug charges.

Wednesday, July 3

01:08 - Bear getting into property at a Sierra City business.

14:21 - Bear breaking into vehicle and attempting to enter a Sierra City residence.

14:41 - No signs of reported illegal dumping found in Loyalton.

15:34 - Complaint of mistreatment reported of a lodger at a jail outside of the county.

16:35 - Deputy conducted extra patrols as requested by a Loyalton citizen.

18:18 - Deputy located expired license plate in the middle of highway near Sattley.

20:39 - Reckless dirt bikers reportedly riding through Sierra Brooks were not located.

Thursday, July 4

00:58 - One arrested in Plumas County after a field sobriety test.

07:27 - Vehicle over a Sierraville embankment. Patient transported by Care Flight to the hospital.

09:59 - Sierra County deputies and CHP assisted with Loyalton Fourth of July parade.

10:01 - Sierra County deputies and CHP assisted with Downieville Fourth of July parade.

10:58 - Cell phone turned into a deputy at Loyalton parade.

11:09 - “Non-criminal juvenile issue in Loyalton.”

11:20 - Deputy confronted juveniles riding dirt bikes on Loyalton and Sierra Brooks streets.

11:27 - Deputy assisted US Foods with getting to their destination having to go around Loyalton parade.

11:32 - Agency assistance requested locating reckless jet skiers on Boca Reservoir.

11:41 - Deputy assisted person stuck on the highway near Loyalton.

13:45 - Ambulance requested in Loyalton.

14:10 - Citation issued to parents of a 9 year old operating a jet ski on Boca Reservoir. Kids need to be at least 16!

15:58 - Report from Truckee of vegetation fire outside Sierra County.

16:38 - Sheriff’s Office assisted the Truckee Police Department with their Fourth of July good times on Donner Lake.

17:28 - Deputy assisted Pike citizens.

17:33 - Accidental 911 call from Loyalton.

18:38 - Driver near Camptonville stopped and issued citation for expired registration.

18:57 - Lost dog on the highway near Camptonville was reunited with owner thanks to deputy.

20:40 - Sierra City caller reporting having been bitten by a dog. No medical needed. Report taken.

21:05 - Possible shots from illegal firearm near Verdi. Search came up empty.

21:37 - Sheriff came upon an illegal campfire near Verdi. Fire restriction rules explained and fire extinguished.

22:00 - CHP notified of unoccupied vehicle in the roadway off of Henness Pass Rd.

22:14 - Deputy will continue to look for illegal campsite reported near Sierra City.

22:24 - Sheriff’s Office came upon ANOTHER illegal fire around Verdi. Counsel given. Fire out.

22:26 - Deputy squashed illegal camping near Sierra City keeping the Scenic Corridor…scenic.

23:29 - Ambulance request in Truckee.

Friday, July 5

00:57 - Illegal campers along the highway near Depot Hill moved along.

01:18 - “Report of a suspicious vehicle following a young female from Sierraville to Sierra Brooks. The female was afraid for her safety and drove to the Sheriff’s Substation in Loyalton, where a deputy assisted her in safely getting home. The deputy was unable to locate any suspicious vehicles in the area. The next morning, the subject’s family found that someone had broken into their horse trailer, removed the horse tack, entered their barn, and fully saddled their horse. The horse was unharmed, and it is believed no one rode it.” WOWZERS! Smart gal for driving to the Sheriff’s Office!

07:49 - Illegal campers in Downieville instructed to move along.

08:13 - In Sierra City: “Report of a possible breaking and entering at a summer cabin, due to a light being on inside and the smell of marijuana smoke coming from the direction of the cabin in question.” The cabin was found secured and unoccupied.

09:30 - Bear attempting to get inside of the “living quarters” at the Kentucky Mine.

11:44 - Reno individual arrested on an outstanding Sierra County warrant.

12:27 - Abandoned vehicle reported to be at the Two Rivers parking lot in Downieville.

13:04 - Bear damages residence in Goodyears Bar.

13:32 - Reports of threats made in Loyalton.

13:41 - Trespassers escorted off of Sierra City property.

13:54 - Propane company notified of possible leak in Loyalton.

14:32 - The Loyalton driver reported to be drunk was found…not impaired.

14:58 - Calpine individual resisting arrest ended up in cuffs.

15:29 - BOLO request from Truckee on a subject possibly involved with domestic violence.

17:07 - 911 hang up from Pike. Deputy could not find anyone in distress.

18:16 - Trailers possibly speeding in Sierraville were not located.

18:40 - Citation issued for expired boat registration at the Stampede boat ramp.

18:55 - Pike driver cited for multiple traffic violations including expired registration.

18:59 - Another citation issued for vessel at Stampede boat ramp for expired registration.

19:18 - Headphones were located at the Downieville Visitor Center and turned into the Sheriff’s Office.

20:47 - Driver stopped around Sierraville passed the Field Sobriety Test. However, a citation was issued for traffic violation.

20:56 - Ambulance requested in Calpine.

21:39 - Reports of shots fired at Carlton Campground. Deputy unable to substantiate claim.

22:06 - Citation issued to Sierraville campers for an illegal campfire. GOOD!

23:45 - Possible shots fired in Verdi forest. It is legal to shoot in the forest.

23:46 - Water pipe burst in Downieville.

Saturday, July 6

05:53 - 911 hang up in Verdi.

10:23- Water usage violation in Loyalton.

11:01 - Plumas County and CHP notified of vegetation fire in Vinton.

11:29 - Injured mountain biker in Downieville with a possible broken jaw. CHP H24 hoisted patient out of area to ambulance at Empire Ranch.

13:11 - Stampede boat ramp endures parking problem resulting in a citation issued for parking in a red zone and not having valid registration.

15:41 - Motorcycle accident with injuries near Sierra City. Patient taken to the hospital.

16:30 - Possible propane leak in Loyalton.

16:48 - Boat trailer impounded at Stampede Reservoir due to fictitious plates.

16:53 - Deputy assisted Camptonville citizen with vehicle problems.

17:19 - Reported horse neglect in Loyalton proved to be unfounded by the law.

17:29 - Couple in a verbal altercation at Stampede Reservoir. No crime.

17:59 - Bear seen crossing the highway from the woods into the woods in Sierra City.

19:38 - “Deputy noticed and admonished individuals about the safety and legality of jumping from the Durgan Bridge in Downieville.”

19:39 - Female reportedly missing out of Plumas County found safe.

19:47 - Suspicious person in Sierraville was gone by the time the law arrived.

20:05 - Lost keys reported in Downieville.

20:35 - Smoke in Downieville stemmed from a campfire on a private residence- legal.

23:14 - Violation of probation turned into arrest of one in Sattley.

23:39 - Ambulance requested in Downieville.

Sunday, July 7

00:09 - Shots fired in Sattley. Call turned out to be a vehicle backfiring.

10:03 - Bear breaks into Sierra City residence and garage.

10:49 - SOS activation from Camptonville device. Medical and fire responded.

11:47 - Welfare check needed in Pike canceled.

13:31 - Lost dog at Salmon Creek Campground was returned to owner.

16:11 - Lost cell phone turned into Sheriff’s Office was retrieved by the owner.

22:47 - CHP and Sierra County Sheriff’s Office moved a vehicle that crashed into a cow. Somehow the cow was fine.
