In the eighth grade, after Dad dropped me off at school, I’d walk back home and delete the message off the answering machine from the school’s attendance office. Glad the first responders have enjoyed a long enough break for coffee and tasty treats from Smithneck Farms, cleaning the rig, reading a book, doing push-ups, planks, and whatever. (If you time it right, you can eat lunch at Los Dos Hermanos, then walk over and buy some pastries from Smithneck Farms for your lunchbox).

17:41 - Traffic stop near Loyalton found driver had a suspended DL; vehicle impounded. After failing the DL exam twice, my eldest was frustrated and asked “Mom, what would happen if I just drive without getting my DL?” Not recommended baby girl! This is what happens... After she confirmed she would have the same examiner three times in a row, I told her, “Darling, believe me, she wants you to pass more than you do!” Third time’s the charm! Knowing this day would come, I’ve been praying hard for her and everyone else on the road when she’s behind the wheel. Makes me want to light up a smoke just thinking about it. She needs a double shot of divine mercy, and I need a triple shot of faith over fear!
