17 - Local found “alive and well” after welfare check in Downieville.

00 - Plumas County folks “picked up a 250 gallon tank” found on Hwy 49 near Vinton.

12 - Mission accomplished by Deputy in the execution of a civil service in Loyalton.

28 - Mountain lion roaming around the Wells Fargo building in Sierra City. Fish and Wildlife explained at a recent Town Hall Meeting in Downieville, seeing these big cats during the day does not indicate they are sick or something is amiss- they roam whenever they desire. Were I to witness this beast from the safety of my vehicle, strolling by a building late morning, my reaction would be, “Wow! How awesome is that!” However, should I be meandering around on foot and wind up in close proximity to this big cat, my sentiments would be a tad different, “NOPE, NOT TODAY SATAN!” Guess it all comes down to location, location, location, when seeing these magnificent creatures. These sightings (along with bears, snakes, spiders, loose dogs, wasps, bees, well... anything that moves) are precisely why my “city” daughter does not like to venture outside my humble dwelling much on her visits to these mountains. Much of her time in Downieville is spent in the safety of my home, where love and laughter reign, as she snuggles on my couch watching television while consuming more junk food and soda in one setting than I was allowed during my entire childhood. Tis the season, and her arrival for Christmas will spark Netflix binge-watching ranging from serial killer documentaries to Hallmark Christmas movies. “We either sleighin’ or slayin’,” as one remarked.

48 - Ambulance requested at Indian Valley Outpost.

14 - Civil service requested in Pike.

45 - Loyaltonian reports receiving threatening text messages. The law investigates these cases, and takes them seriously. If you are ever tempted to write something daft out of anger that could be considered threatening - take a deep breath and perhaps choose a different path. If deep breathing and contemplation doesn’t work, see a therapist.

16 - Civil issue Loyalton.

56 - Caltrans notified of “big” rocks on Hwy 49 south of Cox’s Bar. Before the wonder crew could arrive, Deputy beat them to the scene and removed “big” rocks.Big laugh reading, “They were not as big as mentioned.” Well, I don’t care if they were only the size of a football or even smaller. Doesn’t take much for a rock of any size to cause damage to a vehicle running over it. So thanks, Deputy!
