Main Street in Nevada City became packed with thousands of attendees on Wednesday.
NEVADA CITY — The penultimate Victorian Christmas of the year lined Nevada City’s downtown streets on Wednesday. The event features hundreds of vendors, many in Victorian-era garb, offering arts, crafts, food, and drink. It makes a perfect destination for last-minute Christmas shopping. The final Victorian Christmas is set to take place, rain or shine, on Sunday, December 22nd, from 1:30 to 6:00 PM.
The finale will feature several entertainment acts, including dancers, jugglers, and the Walking Christmas Tree. The Salvation Army Brass Band sets the tone with Christmas tunes during the whole event.
The food court, located next to Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Co. (also open for business), offers abundant food options surrounding a chestnut-roasting fire. Food stands offer classic hot dogs, pizza, and kettle corn. Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Ethiopia, and several other corners of the world also have their cuisines represented.

Alcoholic drinks are a favorite of attendees, with popular options being Hot Buttered Rum, Hot Apple Toddies, Hot Chocolate Snugglers, and Hot Mulled Wine. Many other drinks, including non-alcoholic varieties, are available, particularly in the numerous open restaurants and bars.
Parking is available at the Rood Government Center (950 Maidu Ave), with a shuttle service costing $7 for adults and nothing for children under 15. Parking is extremely limited closer to the event.
