Dear Editor,
Thank you for your coverage regarding the proposed increase to the speed limit in Sierra City. I’m writing to encourage all of my Sierra County neighbors to attend the Supervisor’s meeting on March 4th in Downieville to voice their objection to speed limit increases ANYWHERE in the county. The crux of the argument against relying on speed surveys to set speed limits is simple; diminished public safety. Governmental agencies such as Cal Trans have a covenant with citizens to ensure public safety. Increasing speed limits woefully fails this promise.
Respectfully,
Kim McKinney
