Last Saturday, 10/26, the Truckee Wolverines used a potent offense and defense (an interception and two fumble recoveries to demolish the South Tahoe Vikings, 49-0, finishing their regular season with ten wins, no losses, and first place in their league. As we go to press, their 11/8 play-off opponent remains to be determined.

Also last Saturday, the Loyalton Grizzlies needed an overtime touchdown to win 28-22in their on-the-road game against the 3-6 Burney Raiders. On this Saturday, playing at home, the Grizzlies will carry their 5-3 record into a rematch against the Plumas Charter Warriors of Quincy to replicate their 8/30, 52-6 victory over the Warriors.

Meanwhile, after a tough 27-20 loss to the (now 7-1) Maxwell Panthers last Friday night, the Portola Tigers will be hosting the Redding Christian Lions tomorrow at 7:30 PM. Since the Lions were outscored by the Maxwell Panthers, 44-14, in mid-September, the odds of the Tigers beating the Lions are looking good.

The Quincy Trojans, after evening their season’s record at 4-4 by trouncing the Williams Yellowjackets, 38-16, in Williams last Friday, will be back at home to battle the, also 4-4, Los Molinos Bulldogs, tomorrow night. Given the balanced running and passing attack of the Bulldogs, the Trojans will need a robust defensive effort to establish a winning record before their final game of the season on 11/8, at home against the Portola Tigers.

Since losing their opening game of the season to Loyalton by a score of 44-28, the Herlong Vikings have won their last five games, outscoring their opponents by an average of 55-11. Last week, facing the Butte Valley Bulldogs (Dorris, CA) in Herlong, the Vikings romped to a 52-6 victory. Tomorrow, the Vikings will travel to Dorris for a rematch with the Bulldogs, hoping to close the regular season with a 6-1 record and become their league’s champion.

After losing three out of their first games, Susanville’s Lassen HS Grizzlies have won four straight games and are now in second place within their conference. This Friday, 11/1, at 7:30 PM, the team will host the Yreka Miners, a 6-1 team so far this season who, like the Lassen Grizzlies, boast a formidable running attack.

After a bye week, the Westwood Lumberjacks gathered their first win of this year’s season by a score of 54-18 when they traveled to play the Dunsmuir Tigers last Friday. On Friday at 6 PM this week, the Happy Camp Indians, winless this season, will visit Westwood. The Indians, since they lost to Dunsmuir, 74-32, back in September, are unlikely to beat the Lumberjacks.

For the Chester Volcanos, after falling at home, 58-0, to the formidable (7-1) Tulelake Honkers last week, this week the Volcanos travel to play the Burney Raiders tomorrow at 6 PM. During their last meeting, on 9/24, the Volcanos came out on top by a score of 50-14.
