YUBA PASS — The Great Yuba Pass Chili Cookoff will return for the 31st time on Saturday, March 1st. The contest, famous for having “no rules,” is open for anyone to compete as long as they show up with chili. Tasting happens in the morning, with judges deciding winners by noon. Bribing of the judges is a common, even expected, practice.
5-time Chili Cookoff Champion Andy White’s new belt
Five-time champion Andy White is already preparing to show up to defend his title this year with one of his classic recipes. This time, he has the champion’s belt to match, produced by Molly’s Custom Silver. Andy first won in 1996 with his “Head First Chili” and is the defending champion after bringing “Lizard Country Chili” last year.
White is already preparing for this year’s Cookoff.
