UPDATE - 5:30 PM: All services have now been restored.
DOWNIEVILLE — A complete phone, internet, and cell service outage hit Downieville early this afternoon, created by damage to AT&T equipment, of which the cause is unknown to us. Other than basic landline communication, alternative satellite internet providers were the only operational communication networks in the area. An AT&T spokesperson stated, “We are experiencing a disruption of home phone, internet, and wireless services because our equipment was damaged. We are working as quickly as possible to make repairs and restore service and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.” Currently, AT&T’s outage map estimates service will be restored by Thursday, January 16th, at 4:29 AM.
