Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the following individuals and businesses who generously provided raffle prizes for the May 11 Cancer Awareness Walk: Sierra Hardware, La Sierra Beauty Boutique, Sierra City Mercantile, Jadas, Cold Rush, Sabrina’s, Two Rivers, Downieville Grocery and Karen Galan. DHS’s CSF (California Scholarship Federation) students led by CSF President Nick Martinelli and adviser Amber Baca-Sainsbury organized this year’s annual fundraiser which included a brisk morning walk, delicious salad luncheon and fantastic raffle. Thank you to all participants and workers! The event netted several hundred dollars. The funds are available to local cancer patients through mini-grants; for applications and additional information, please contact Daniel Barry at the clinic or Frank Lang.
