SIERRA VALLEY — HoBo Ranch is a family-owned, small-scale, 7-acre farm located along the Old Truckee Highway, just a short distance south of Sierraville in the Sierra Valley. The family uses organic and biodynamic practices to tend their land and benefit the climate while growing a wide range of natural dye plants for dyeing yarns made from the fleeces of their sheep, florals for local events and florists in Truckee, and offering a small community-supported agriculture (CSA) operation for eggs. Their chickens are fed on organic feed and food scraps and range the property freely with 15 sheep, one donkey, 19 ducks, three dogs, one cat, and two little human boys. The family loves farm life and sharing their botanically dyed wool, flowers, and fresh eggs while nurturing the Earth.
