At a brief (88 minute) session on July 6, the Sierra County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to provide
the Sierra County Firesafe and Watershed Council (SCFS&WC) with $5,000 for the purpose of updating the
Sierra County Community Wildfire Protection Plan and putting the non-profit organization in a position to
apply for grants from various state and federal agencies.
The Board also voted 5-0 against proposed amendments to the Board of Forestry regulations and to Senate Bill 12, a measure calling for amending local zoning regulations in order to reduce the threat of wildfires.
